Pastor Vicki Fisher joined our congregation in June 2023 and we are excited to have her as our worship leader. She is working to listen to all on where to take our congregation in the future. She is here to welcome and she is actively working to lead our congregation taking our welcoming to the next level. We are so blessed to have her as our Senior Pastor.

Congregational Care Coordinator

Julie serves as the Congregational Care Coordinator at UMCMV. She has always had a passion for making others feel loved and cared for, a desire to lift the heart of every person that walks into the United Methodist Church. From personal trials and family transitions to anniversary celebrations and birthday wishes, Julie enjoys getting to know each church member on an individual level and ensuring they receive the care they prefer and deserve.

Julie has called Mt. Vernon and UMCMV “home” since 2001. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jim, and they have three adult children: Trevor, Trenton and Tessa. In her free time, Julie adores flower gardening (a cornerstone of her Care Ministry) and photography. She is always up for a coffee date with friends and values quality family time, theater going, and traveling to new and exciting places.

Jaimie Hanson joined the UMCMV staff in December 2024, taking on the role of Office Manager/Assistant Treasurer. Jaimie lives in Mount Vernon and is married to Rob; they have 5 children. She enjoys writing, taking pictures, a good puzzle, getting out in nature, and spending time with family and friends. Coffee is a food group, vacations are necessary, laughter is healing, tears are unspoken prayers, hugs do come from Heaven, and community matters. Lu (they/him) Higgins is so excited to be joining the United Methodist Church as the choir director! Per Lu: I just graduated from Cornell College and currently reside in Cedar Rapids with my partner Beckett, our dogs Snoopy, Bucket and Morgan, and our cat Matilda. I am originally from Norwalk, IA but fell in love with Cedar Rapids while I was in college. I love reading, spending time with my family, and everything about outer space!

Christian Education & Youth Ministry Director

Mandy Moellering lives here in Mount Vernon with her husband Mike, and three children (Max-21, Laila-19 and Spencer-15). Mandy is a pre-school educator at Bright Starts Christian Preschool in North Liberty, and comes to us having served as a Director of Children’s Ministry for several years at FUMC of North Liberty. Mandy is passionate about teaching tiny humans about God’s love, encouraging children and youth ministry through their participation in Worship and serving their neighbors. Mandy’s favorite VBS song is “My Lighthouse”, and her favorite mission trip was to aid flood victims in Greeley, Colorado.
