Here are some quick answers to some quick questions about the United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon (UMCMV). If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to contact us for more information!
When are the worship services?
Our church offers two services with different styles. A praise-style service takes place at 8:30 AM, and a more traditional worship service begins at 11:00 AM. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the Traditional Worship moves to 10:15 am.
Where are the restrooms located?
One unisex restroom is located near the new elevator on the upper level. Main restrooms are located in the west hall of the education wing. (As you leave the sanctuary, exit to the right. At the bottom of the stairs, turn left and follow signage the appropriate restroom. A family restroom with a changing table is available as well.)
When and where does Sunday School take place?
During the school year children’s Sunday School begins by gathering in the sanctuary at 9:45 AM. Children are dismissed from the sanctuary to their classrooms, accompanied by their shepherd.
When is childcare available?
The nursery is staffed during both (8:30 AM and 11:00 AM) services.
Where is the nursery located?
**Summer of 2023: TEMPORARY MOVED TO Room off of the Narthex by Sanctuary. Go past main sanctuary doors and turn right, go up two small stairs and walk to back Chapel room, look for children gate.
The nursery is on the upper level of the education wing. (Follow directions for restrooms, but pass them and turn left at the end of the hall. The nursery is on the left side at the end of this hall.)
What should I wear for worship?
Services at Mount Vernon United Methodist are casual. Some prefer to dress up, some dress down, and most of us fall in the middle. Come as you are!
Are there Adult Sunday School classes?
We have several opportunities for you. There are classes throughout the building and if you come on a Sunday morning you can be directed to one.
